Mead & mead

How is mead / mead stored?

mead storage

Bottles with natural cork: Lying storage
Lay honey wines with natural cork down for storage so that the cork stays moist on the inside and lets as little air through as possible.

Bottles with screw caps: Standing storage
Honey wines with plastic corks, screw caps, crown caps or glass caps can be stored upright without hesitation.

General information on storage for both types of closures

Constant temperature
Keeping the temperature as constant as possible is the most important thing. We recommend a temperature between 7-18 degrees.

humidity
The humidity should be high enough so that the outside of the cork does not dry out.

Little light
Honey wine likes darkness. UV rays are particularly harmful. (Bottles of honey wine can also be stored in the crates.)

Stability and foreign odors
Stored honey wines should not be exposed to any major vibrations or foreign odours.
